The Squad Trident Strike update is around the corner, and it brings brand new content to the game. Offworld plans on releasing the Squad Trident Strike update on November 12, 2025, and it introduces a surprising inclusion. This latest update for Squad introduces a new conventional faction for BLUFOR, the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine).
Despite it seeming controversial, Offworld developed a game and not a political statement, and they’re keeping it that way. Squad is a realistic first-person shooter focused on teamwork and strategy, nothing more and nothing less. So with that in mind, let’s see what the Squad Trident Strike update has in store for us.
What The Squad Trident Strike Update Has To Offer
The Squad Trident Strike update is right on our doorstep, and we can already see what it offers through the peephole. And what we see through that peephole is the new BLUEFOR faction, the AFU. The AFU is a conventional faction equipped with modern gear, including unique additions that are exclusive to the AFU.
The unique gear of the AFU includes infantry weapons, emplacements, and vehicles. The vehicles of the AFU consist of Russian-inspired armor such as the T-64BM2 and BMP-1TS. However, the AFU does get the Malyuk and Zbroyar UAR-10 Marksman Rifle, both Ukrainian-made weapons.
The AFU also comprises specialized units within the faction, just like the other available factions. These specialized units include Air Assault, Armored, Combined Arms, Light Infantry, Mechanized, Motorized, Support, and Amphibious Assault units. So make sure to choose wisely at the voting stage.
The AFU commander will get access to the Bayraktar TB2 Recon UAV, 152mm Artillery Static and Creeping Barrage. The AFU also get access to a new commander ability, a precision bomb strike that calls in an SU-25 to drop two FAB250 bombs on a precise target area. So enjoy dropping bombs right on that tank that’s been bothering your team.
Is The AFU The Only Thing Coming To The Squad Trident Strike Update?
The Squad Trident Strike update also includes many bug fixes, small changes, and adjustments. Among these is the inclusion of the armory menu tab, which allows you to view the weapons of every faction with ease. The training screen has also received a touch-up for a nicer look and feel.
Though these changes are rather small, you won’t have to worry about them most of the time while playing Squad. What you do have to worry about, though, is the objective, so get on it!
