A new Battlefield 2042 update has been released for all players in preparation for the release of Battlefield 6. This latest update, released on August 18, 2025, features a plethora of additions for Battlefield 2042. The Battlefield 2042 update also introduces a new free battlepass, featuring rewards that will carry over to Battlefield 6.

With the conclusion of the Battlefield 6 open beta, the road to Battlefield 6 starts with the new Battlefield 2042 update. And that begins with items acquired in Battlefield 2042 for playing the open beta and Battlefield 6 for playing Battlefield 2042. Of course, this new Battlefield 2042 update isn’t all about Battlefield 6; it also includes content for Battlefield 2042.

The Contents Of The New Battlefield 2042 Update

The Battlefield 2042 update includes a new map, battlepass, weapons, and vehicles. Along with new patch notes, of course, but the new content additions are the focus of this update. The mentioned new content additions in the Battlefield 2042 are as follows:

  • The Iwo Jima Map: A fan favorite map previously seen in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 1943, and Battlefield V. The Battlefield 2042 version of Iwo Jima will feature an active Volcano, so watch your heads. Besides that, Iwo Jima will also feature boat landings, bunkers, and trenches.
  • The KFS2000 Assault Rifle: An iconic bullpup assault rifle with high accuracy and control. The KFS2000, based on the real FN2000, is a 5.56×45mm NATO bullpup rifle designed by FN Herstal.
  • The Lynx Sniper Rifle: The famous GM6 Lynx .50 caliber semi-automatic anti-material sniper rifle for demolishing environments, vehicles, and enemy troops. Players who participated in the Battlefield 6 open beta instantly gain access to the Lynx. However, for those who didn’t participate, they can acquire the Lynx on a later date via challenges.
  • The A-10 Warthog: The legendary A-10 Warthog joins the Battlefield 2042 vehicle roster with its famous 30mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon. Along with the famous GAU-8 Avenger, the A-10 Warthog also receives new and tweaked abilities.
  • The SU-25TM Frogfoot: The venerable SU-25TM Frogfoot joins the A-10 Warthog in the skies as an air-to-ground strike aircraft. The SU-25TM Frogfoot (AKA the SU-39) features its 30mm dual-barrel GSh-30-2 cannon along with other abilities.
  • The Free Battlepass: The free battlepass in the new Battlefield 2042 update celebrates the different eras featured in the Battlefield franchise. It includes 60 free unlockable tiers with rewards inspired by previous Battlefield games that came before Battlefield 2042. And some of these rewards can only be used in Battlefield 6 when it releases on October 10, 2025.
  • The Best of Portal Themed Event: From September 2 to 30, players can participate in the Best of Portal event for brand-new rewards. This event will rotate a new game mode every 48 hours, providing players with playlists of the best Portal experiences.

As the days count down, players are shaking with excitement for the release of Battlefield 6. The content presented by the new Battlefield 2042 update lets players diversify their gameplay with new weapons and vehicles on a remastered map.
