The SCP: 5K 1.0 release has drifted around many fans’ minds for the longest time, and there’s finally some news regarding it. 1.0 is much closer than any of us could’ve thought, but it’s still quite a ways away, sadly. Not only is 1.0 quite a distance away, but the developers of SCP: 5K have shared some bittersweet news.
We now know, with the recent news of the SCP: 5K 1.0 release on July 3, 2026, that Affray Interactive has begun fully focusing on 1.0. But with their new focus on 1.0, they can no longer release their regular updates until 1.0 is fully out. However, this new process isn’t all bad, and that’s clear with the roadmap.
Why There Aren’t Any Updates Until The SCP: 5K 1.0 Release Happens

Before the SCP: 5K 1.0 release plan publicly appeared, Affray worked with update-to-update schedules. They planned to fund and reach 1.0 with sales from new players with each content update that introduced something new and shiny. However, Affray knew this wouldn’t be healthy for the game, regardless of update quality.
Shiny new toys and activities would attract new players to purchase the game, but that won’t work for long. A successful game needs meaningful improvements to existing systems, systems that get neglected in exchange for enticing short-term activities. And Affray knows this, but they couldn’t help it, as they’re an independent studio with no backing.
Fortunately, thanks to Balor Games, Affray finally has the backing they need to really dedicate its time to refining SCP: 5K. Instead of working essentially paycheck-to-paycheck, Affray now has a stable backer to allow them to work as needed. Gone are the days when Affray had to worry if their latest update could keep the lights on.
With that said, Affray will now return to its originally planned development cycle, which, sadly, means no more updates until 1.0. You heard that right, Affray won’t release any more updates until the 1.0 release happens. However, it’s for an extraordinarily good reason, which becomes all the more clear if you peek at their roadmap for the 1.0 release.
Affray released the SCP: 5K 1.0 release roadmap alongside the news of the upcoming 1.0 release. This roadmap details a massive list of various changes and additions coming to the 1.0 release. Some of these additions and changes have already been revealed to us, while the rest will be released as the days to 1.0 draw closer.
What Does The SCP: 5K 1.0 Release Roadmap Contain?

The SCP: 5K 1.0 release roadmap is quite sizeable, far too big to include here. However, if you’re interested in the changes and additions they’re introducing in the 1.0 release, then you can check it out for yourself here. Regardless of whether you check it out yourself, I’ll be covering each category myself in the coming days.
So if you’d like to see that, then you’ll know exactly where to look. Now keep your head on a swivel, guard, you’ve got a job to do, and if you’re a D-Class, then do what you D-Class usually do, probably laze around while looking dumb. And if you’re somehow not affiliated with the SCP Foundation, how’d you find this?!
