We’ve lived to see the day that the H3VR 1.0 update release arrives, and it’s a monumental moment in VR history. Hotdogs, Horseshoes, and Handgrenades, shortened to H3VR, has spent 10 years in development, and the developers have spent those 10 years well. They’ve created something truly unique, and it becomes obvious when you look inside.
The H3VR 1.0 update release surprised many fans, though it became obvious why it happened given recent news. Since H3VR 2 is coming along, the first H3VR had to finish up early access development soon. And since July 4, 2026, H3VR has been officially out of early access after a decade of development.
What Does The H3VR 1.0 Update Release Mean For The Game?
The H3VR 1.0 update release brings the last cherry on top for the game to be considered “finished”. It introduces a few creator tools, an update to the Take & Hold game mode, and other goodies to commemorate the 1.0 update. But the developers aren’t finished with H3VR, at least not completely.
Bugs still need fixing, and the developers want to add in a few more creator tools, which would introduce more bugs, of course. So developer support won’t be the content updates that you’re familiar with, which is unfortunate, but look at what we have. H3VR features hundreds of weapons and attachments, dozens of game modes, and more.
Let’s not forget the modding scene for H3VR, one that can bring hundreds of more hours of gameplay. However, with how recent the H3VR 1.0 update release is, a good chunk of the mod catalog will take a few days to a few weeks to update. But a bit of patience should fix this issue with no problem, unless you created a mod, then you’ve gotta update it.
Regardless, H3VR is now a complete package of guns, game modes, features, and more. So, as bittersweet as it is to see that future content is unlikely, it’s definitely not needed. H3VR has become the sandbox that everyone, including the developers, wished for; you could say it’s a true American sandbox.
What Is There To Do Now After The H3VR 1.0 Update Release?

Well, if you’ve truly experienced everything the H3VR 1.0 update release has to offer, then you can wait to support H3VR 2. Despite its early development, H3VR 2 seems to include a laundry list of features that far surpass its predecessor. So, if you want more of H3VR or something like it, consider supporting H3VR 2 when that option becomes available.
Now put on that headset and experience H3VR in its finished glory; it’s been a long time coming after all.
