The Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system is here with the 6.3.0 update, and it’s a great start to improving the game. This new system makes each Major Order, or sequence of Major Orders, much more exciting and engaging for players. But how does this system work, and how does it improve upon the old system?
The Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system isn’t much different than the old system, but the differences it has are game-changing. Think of it as an updated version of the old Campaign system instead of something completely new. But don’t just think it, let me show you, so let’s talk about the new system.
How The New Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign System Works
When you first boot up the game, you may not even notice the new Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system. But if you turn to your right, you may notice the once-useless terminal now has life, a purpose, and that’s where the new system resides. This new terminal is called the Control Center terminal, and it’s quite useful.
The Control Center Terminal And Its Tabs
The Control Center and its terminals are where you’ll get to witness the new Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system. Upon accessing one of the four Control Center terminals, you’ll see three tabs: the Overview, Active Campaign, and Past Campaigns tabs. These three tabs are where you’ll get your briefings for objectives provided by High Command.
The three tabs of the Control Center terminal are as follows:
- The Overview Tab: The first tab you’ll see is the Overview tab, where you’ll get the basic explanation of the current Campaign. This tab will provide you with the name of the current Campaign, what’s at stake, and the rewards you can receive. But if you want a more in-depth explanation of the current objective, then let’s move on to the second tab.
- The Active Campaign Tab: The Active Campaign tab in the Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system is where you’ll get your briefings for current objectives. You can also look at previous Major Orders that make up the whole Campaign to read about its debriefing. The briefings will tell you about what’s currently happening, and the debriefing will tell you about what happened.
- The Past Campaigns Tab: While not currently useful, the Past Campaigns tab will soon become the tab that archives every past Campaign for your reading pleasure. The first Campaign to join this tab will be the current Campaign, Census Thunder, when it concludes. Until then, it’ll have nothing but an occasional tumbleweed and a singular cricket to keep it company.
How The Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign System Works
While the Control Center finally has a use, it certainly isn’t the main attraction; it only provides information for the main show. The true main attraction is the actual Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system, and thankfully, it’s not hard to understand. In fact, it isn’t too different from the old system.
Instead of singular Major Orders with the occasional follow-up Major Order, each Major Order of one Campaign connects to the others. For example, the current Campaign, Census Thunder, features three Major Orders, despite a UI bug showing otherwise. And each Major Order directly ties to the previous one.
Rewards have also received a few changes with the new Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system. For individual Major Orders, the medal reward starts low, but increases as the Major Orders pile on. However, the most exciting change to rewards has to come with the new Campaign rewards, as you can earn whole new stratagems by completing them.
For example, if we complete the current Major Order and the next one of Census Thunder, we can get the Supply FRV. But that’s just the first taste of what this system has to offer, because new stratagems are just one type of reward. We could see even more amazing Campaign rewards as more Campaigns arrive, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Is That All For The Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign System?
Sadly, that is indeed all there is for the Helldivers 2 Galactic Campaign system, but it certainly won’t stay that way, I hope. This system is still in its infancy, so we’ll hopefully see some improvements if Arrowhead keeps its promise of wanting to improve the game. But until further improvement appears, this system is a good start, and many seem to like it.
