The Abilities Of The Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, And How Essential They Are

The Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, is my absolute favorite Runner Shell out of the entire roster, and for good reason. This Shell is THE support shell, capable of keeping the fight going, along with a bit of necromancy if you need. But if you’re a good Triage, you won’t need the dark arts to keep your crew going.

The Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, can be seen as the medic Shell, or the support Shell if you play those sorts of games. Either way, the Triage Shell is perfect for teams who struggle to keep their health topped up, but they aren’t only there to heal. So, let’s take a look at their full kit so that you’ll know how to use it to its fullest.

It’s true that the Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, is best known for its healing and support capabilities, but that’s not all it offers. Triage can also be a lethal threat; it depends on which Runner uses it and how well they know their Shell. So, to prevent a fellow Runner from misusing their Shell, let’s talk about the abilities of Triage, starting with their prime ability.

Triage’s Prime Ability: Reboot+

When things get messy and your crew members get killed, Triage is exactly what you want on your team. With Reboot+, Triage enables their emergency defibrillator systems, which can lock onto downed or dead teammates to revive them. In addition to its supportive abilities, Reboot+ also has some offensive capabilities.

When choosing a target to lock onto, Triage can lock onto an enemy to damage and EMP them. The EMP status effect prevents Runners from using their Shell abilities and stops their ability cooldowns for a limited time. If used correctly, Reboot+ can also down an enemy, so it’s a two-in-one package.

Triage’s Tactical Ability: Med-Drone

You’d think the limit to your squad size is three, but that’s where you’re wrong, thanks to Triage’s Med-Drone. You can extend your squad size up to six by throwing out Triage’s adorable little drones to orbit a crew member of your choice, including yourself. Obviously, these drones aren’t just there to tag along for the ride; they’re there for an amazing reason.

The Med-Drones of the Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, heal both the health and shield of any Shell it’s attached to. While it is rather slow, it’s perfect for consistent healing while in battle or for topping up your health. Not only that, but these drones will also keep you from bleeding out while downed, so you’d better thank these little guys.

Triage’s Trait Ability: Shareware.exe

The first trait ability of the Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, allows Triage to share their consumables with anyone with their Med-Drone. So, Triage can cleanse the entire team of the Toxin status effect with the use of only one Mechanic’s Kit. You can also provide the effects of Energy Amp to the entire team with this trait ability.

However, Shareware.exe won’t apply the full duration of a status effect when shared, only a portion of it. So, don’t think you can have your Triage sit in a corner and constantly healing you while you’re in a tense firefight. You’ll have to pull your own weight, because Triage is only there to help you along and not outright win you the fight.

Triage’s Trait Ability: Battery Overcharge

While previous abilities are mostly supportive, besides Reboot+, Battery Overcharge is purely offensive. When enabled, Battery Overcharge significantly enhances your weapon’s performance, allowing you to fight better. However, enabling this ability results in a large heat spike, so make sure your heat is low enough.

In terms of enhanced performance, your weapons gain increased handling, stability, reload speed, and more. In addition to that, breaking a target’s shield with a Volt weapon will also EMP them, giving you the advantage ability-wise. So if you’ve got a heavy machine gun, then enable this ability before going into a fight, you’ll notice the difference.

Is That All For The Marathon Runner Shell, Triage?

The Marathon Runner Shell, Triage, is already powerful enough, but this Shell can become even more powerful thanks to Cores. However, I won’t be covering them here today, as I’ve done with the previous Shell guides. I’ll cover all Shell-specific cores on a different date for all shells once I’ve finished these guides.

With that in mind, it’s time to swear the Hippocratic Oath and be the best medic on Tau Ceti IV. Though I will say, you won’t be the very best, because that’s me, but I won’t say no to some competition!
