The Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch arrived on April 20, 2026, with a prized package of optimizations. Although the optimization improvements are a welcome addition and necessary, that’s not what we’re looking at. What we are analyzing in this patch is the continuation of the weapon attachment changes started by the 1.0.2.5 patch.
The 1.0.2.5 patch jump-started the process of rebalancing every weapon attachment category from start to finish. It began with muzzle devices, magazines, grips, and buttstocks, and now the latest patch has expanded, albeit slightly. So, let’s check what attachments got changed in the Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch.
The Affected Attachments In The Escape From Tarkov 1.0.4.5 Patch

The Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch marks the beginning of the second stage of weapon attachment changes. This second stage touches on barrels and handguards, but muzzle devices and buttstocks also receive some refinements. Let’s start with the changes made to barrels before we get to the rest.
The Barrel Changes
The Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch made adjustments to weapon barrels to match their design principles. Longer barrels provide greater recoil reduction but feature higher ergonomics penalties, and shorter barrels do the opposite. These adjustments make choosing between short and long barrels more meaningful.
The Handguard Changes
Hanguards no longer affect recoil as of the 1.0.4.5 patch and are now made to compensate for the ergonomics loss from barrels. While ergonomics are critical for a good weapon, this change makes it so that you can use handguards more for looks than stats more often. However, knowing players who focus on meta, that’s not how they’ll use it.
The Additional Muzzle Device Changes
The latest update gave muzzle devices another pass following the first iteration of the weapon attachment changes. Although small, suppressor and compensator combos reduce recoil less, they also reduce ergonomics to a lesser degree. This change should boost the use of unsuppressed weapon builds.
The Additional Buttstock Changes
The additional changes for buttstocks are even smaller than the changes made to muzzle devices. The Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch provides buttstocks with minor changes and adjustments to address inaccuracies from the initial update. Despite being small, almost imperceptible, I thought it was important to mention this change either way.
Is That All For The Escape From Tarkov 1.0.4.5 Patch Attachment Changes?

With the attachment changes in the Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch, several weapons have had their base stats improved. These improvements align several weapons affected by these changes with the new balance. The recoil and ergonomics have improved for the following weapons:
- All AK, AKM, and AK-100 series weapons
- Steyr AUGs
- HK G36
- HK 416A5
- FN SCARs
- SIG MCX-SPEAR
- SIG MCX .300
- CMMG Mk47 Mutant
- Rifle Dynamics RD-704
- Aklys Defense Velociraptor
- All machine guns
- All bolt-action and marksman rifles chambered in 7.62×51, 7.62x54R, .338, and .50 BMG
Besides these improvements, that is indeed all for the attachment changes in the Escape from Tarkov 1.0.4.5 patch. So, it is with a heavy heart that I advise your weapon builds, because they might not be what you remembered them to be. However, once you get past the new jarring change, you can get right back to raiding, so get to it, друг!
