The Helldivers 2 Stalwart is one of the many powerful support weapons available for the Helldiver arsenal. The Stalwart is also in the family of lead-slinging machine guns of varying sizes and calibers. But can simple bullets compete with the more explosive and high-tech support weapons in Helldivers 2?

As said, the Stalwart in Helldivers 2 shares a spot in the machine gun family with its two other brothers. And each member of the family shares their love of slinging hot lead at every tyrannical enemy of freedom. But besides their shared love of hot brass, what is the difference between the machine gun brothers?

The Helldivers 2 Stalwart is one of the three machine guns in the arsenal as of the July 16, 2025, patch. And each member of this family delivers different utilities on the battlefield, so what does each machine gun provide? The three machine guns are as follows, in order of smallest to biggest:

The M-105 Stalwart: A compact, light machine gun chambered in 5.5x50mm, the same rounds used in the AR-23 Liberator. Being chambered in such a relatively small round gives it a faster fire rate and reload speed. The smaller bullet also allows for better ergonomics and a massive 250-round magazine.

The Stalwart also includes an adjustable firing rate of 700, 850, and 1150 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). These fire rates range from what you would see in a primary weapon to one of the fastest firing weapons. Meaning it can perform like a pseudo-primary weapon to support heavier primary weapons, like the R-36 Eruptor.

The MG-43 Machine Gun: A hefty, medium machine gun chambered in 8x60mm, the same rounds used in the BR-14 Adjudicator. The larger rounds provide the MG-43 medium penetration capabilities and more damage per round. Unfortunately, the increased weight reduces its ergonomics, ammo to 175, and requires the user to sit still to reload.

Like its little brother, the MG-43 has multiple fire rates consisting of 630, 760, and 900 RPM. Helldivers may use the lowest fire rate to conserve ammo or the highest fire rate to shred a horde of foes. In summary, the MG-43 is what many would call the classic “machine gun”, a reliable bullet hose for team support.

The MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun: A bulky, heavy machine gun chambered in the biggest round of all the machine guns, 12.5x100mm. This gigantic “.50 caliber” round punches through heavy armor with ease and deals massive damage to the target. But at the cost of horrible ergonomics and only a 100-round drum mag.

The MG-206 can also change its fire rate to 450, 600, and 750 RPM, similar to its younger brothers. However, each shot produces tremendous recoil, so using the slower fire rates or burst fire is recommended. With this in mind, the MG-206 is a beast against heavily armored targets, even against tank-armored enemies.
