Battlefield 6 season 1 is going to last a while longer as Battlefield Studios announces the Battlefield 6 season extension. A season extension is almost unheard of in the realm of gaming, so it’s understandable that this left fans completely baffled. Season 1 will last until February 17, 2026, instead of January 20, 2026, as intended.
The purpose behind the Battlefield 6 season extension is to grant the developers extra time to polish and refine Season 2. Thankfully, the extension isn’t just a hollow spacer for Battlefield Studios to work on the next season, as it’s full of content. Let’s take a look at the Battlefield 6 season extension and the content it provides.
The Battlefield 6 Season Extension And Its Contents

The Battlefield 6 season extension will take effect on the original end date of season 1, January 20, 2026. Once it’s in effect, players can look forward to new weekly challenges, a Bonus Path, and a continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Battlefield Studios will also begin solidifying the role of Battlefield Labs as a public preview for late-stage development content.
This change means that Battlefield Labs will soon resemble the Testing Grounds playlist in Siege X. Now, it won’t just be a glorified public test server; it will still be the Battlefield Labs you love. What it does mean, however, is that Battlefield Labs will now allow players to get sneak peeks at future content, including what’s coming in Season 2.
The first content drop for the Battlefield 6 season extension will appear on January 27, 2026, in the form of a bonus path. The bonus path is named Frostfire, and it contains new customization rewards, including a Weapon Package and a Soldier Skin, as well as XP Boosts. Unfortunately, additional rewards require the purchase of the Season 1 Battle Pass.
The free reward tiers for the Frosfire path will include a Hardware XP Boost, a Vehicle Skin, and playercard customization items. The paid reward tiers will contain a new Weapon Package, a Career XP Boost, and additional customization items. As harsh as it is for the Frostfire bonus path to have a paid tier, the free content is still generous.
Moving along, the stubby month of February is also receiving some content from the Battlefield 6 season extension. February is getting a special Valentine’s Day event that might be the opportunity to profess your feelings for your favorite teammate. Battlefield Studios will introduce another set of Daily Login Rewards and several Double XP Weekends during February.
