It’s a new day, and the new day brings the devout Venator in Deadlock to the game’s massive character roster. Father Quinn Rourke, better known as Venator, is the sword St. Benedict, and he’s here to purge the evil beings of the Cursed Apple. To accomplish that, Venator comes armed with an arsenal of overwhelming firepower.

Venator in Deadlock is the fourth winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest. While a little late to the party, he’ll make sure his tardiness is the only stain on his reputation from here on out. But before you dash out guns blazing with our new arrival, we must have a look at his holy armaments first.

The Abilities Of Venator In Deadlock

The name Venator in Deadlock uses isn’t really his name; it’s merely a title from the organization Father Rourke belongs to. That is the title given to those who hunt dark and occult creatures, a title not to be taken lightly. But a title is meaningless without anything to back it up, so let’s take a look at what Venator in Deadlock has to back him up.

51:20

Venator’s primary weapon, 51:20, is his divine fully automatic MP5 featuring a drum magazine and underbarrel grenade launcher. 51:20 fires 33 bullets at 7.94 bullets per second from its drum magazine, with each bullet dealing eight damage. After some calculations, Venator’s divine MP5 deals 64 damage per second.

Consecrating Grenade

The first ability of Venator in Deadlock makes use of his underbarrel grenade launcher. His launcher fires out a consecrating grenade that deals 35 weapon damage and sets enemies on fire. Burning enemies deal 10 pure damage per second and reduce healing by 30% for any enemy in a 4.5m area for 3.5 seconds.

The upgrades for Consecrating Grenade are as follows:

  1. The first upgrade for Consecrating Grenade reduces its cooldown by five seconds, leaving it with a 20-second cooldown.
  2. The second upgrade increases the explosion and burning by 1.5m, bringing it up to 6m.
  3. The third upgrade increases the healing reduction by 20%, further debuffing enemies with a total of 50% reduced healing. This upgrade also allows Consecrating Grenade to use charges for shop items that increase ability charges.

Gutshot

Gutshot makes use of his off-hand double-barreled shotgun to deal damage to enemies and push them away. His shotgun deals 60 weapon damage, but if an enemy impacts a wall, it deals 30 extra weapon damage. When an enemy impacts a wall, they’ll get stunned for 0.65 seconds on top of the damage they receive.

The upgrades and their effects for Gutshot are as follows:

  1. Venator’s first upgrade for his shotgun increases its damage by 25, bringing it up to 85 weapon damage.
  2. The next upgrade decreases its cooldown by eight seconds and increases its ability range by 2.5m. This upgrade results in Gutshot having an 18-second cooldown and a 12.5m ability range.
  3. The final upgrade for Gutshot blesses your next heavy melee hit when an enemy hits a wall. Blessed attacks deal 100 bonus damage and scale with Venator’s level.

Hex-Lined Snap Trap

This ability sees Venator kicking out a Hex-Lined Snap Trap, essentially a bear trap, that arms after a brief moment. Springing this trap hurts enemies with 80 spirit damage, immobilizes them for 1.5 seconds, and reveals them for five seconds. Venator can deploy two of these, and each of them lasts for 30 seconds.

The various upgrades for these blessed traps are as follows:

  1. The first upgrade reduces its cooldown by 12 seconds, bringing it down to 18 seconds.
  2. The next upgrade immobilizes enemies for .75 seconds longer, thus leaving them vulnerable for a total of 2.25 seconds.
  3. The third and final upgrade makes the victims of these traps take 20% more damage from you.

Ira Domini

The ultimate ability of Venator, Ira Domini, sees him equipping a crossbow loaded with three stakes. Each stake deals 120 weapon damage, and the last stake becomes blessed, dealing bonus pure damage. The blessed stake can also execute any enemy below 8% health, so watch out when you’re low around Venator.

The upgrades for Venator’s Ira Domini are as follows:

  1. The first upgrade makes Ira Domini let Venator run 1.2 m/s faster.
  2. The second upgrade decreases Ira Domini’s cooldown by 15 seconds and increases its bonus damage by 150. Thus, resulting in a 125-second cooldown and 250 bonus damage.
  3. The final upgrade blesses all three stakes.

Venator in Deadlock is a fearsome hunter, maybe even more so than Silver, as they train for their very job. Venator’s abilities allow him to face off against single targets or groups of supernatural creatures. His Consecrating Grenades excel at big team fights, and his traps are perfect for ambushing and weakening his targets.

And when he figures out which of his targets are the weakest of the pack, he can finish them off with his blessed crossbow, Ira Domini. Unfortunately, that might be a challenge for Father Rourke, as the Crused Apple is full of supernatural creatures. So let’s not waste any more time, get hunting Venator in Deadlock, you have a holy job to do.
