The Jump Space Augmented update arrived on December 17, 2025, and marks itself as the second major update. The focus of this update is the new Augment mechanic that will change how your crew plays the game forever. Not only that, this update introduces fun new features and much-appreciated optimizations.

The Jump Space Augmented update is Jump Space’s second major update since its early access release on September 15, 2025. And as its second major update, it certainly doesn’t disappoint, just like the first content update. So, let’s see what the second content update for Jump Space has in store for us.

The Jump Space Augmented update adds several new things into the game for you and your crew to experience. The mentioned things will both help you in your journey and make it a little tougher to complete. But before we get to the new challenges you’ll face, let’s talk about the new Augment system.

With the Augment system, players can modify their characters with several different perks, but at a cost. Your player character has a total of 10 augment power, and each augment costs a certain amount of power. So, you can equip the most powerful augments, at the cost of having only a few.

You gain more augment power with each level you gain, so leveling up now has a new purpose besides new titles. Players can also unlock additional augments by earning suits and helmets, giving them an additional purpose. However, this only unlocks the augment; it doesn’t force you wear specific gear to equip said augment.

Augments aren’t the only thing that’ll assist your crew on their journey to destroy the corrupted machine menace. Players can now carry more items than the four total slots they have, thanks to the new cargo bag. When a player attempts to grab another item with a packed inventory, it’ll now go into the cargo bag.

After filling up the bag, you can either dump its contents by deploying the bag or drop the bag as a whole. With the new cargo back, players can loot any location to their heart’s content without having to worry about space. Players can also bring extra supplies to fights and dump them in a common area before engaging in the fight.

And during the fight, you might notice a new critter skittering around, and that would be the Radioactive Arachnid. Similar to the Flamethrower Arachnids, this new critter closes the distance and stays next to you as the radiation penetrates your suit. And after the radiation bar maxes out, there’s nothing that can save you from getting insta-downed.

These little glowing critters are also present in the new on-foot survival mission type, which is our next talking point. In this mission type, called Data Breach, you and your crew must survive waves of enemies as your ship’s core downloads critical data. After the download finishes, players can choose to leave early or continue forever.

Thankfully, players can gain Materia from around the arena to use the assembler in the center of the level. You can craft weapons, ammo, Medbots, and even Materia ingots after every completed wave of enemies. Unfortunately, there’s only one map for this mission type as of the Jump Space Augmented update.

And last but not least, the improvements made to Buddy-Bot by the Jump Space Augmented update. Solo and duo players can walk up to our favorite redeemed machine and open a command wheel. You can make Buddy stop wasting Materia on ammo, stop using the gunner station, or even stop following you on foot.

Is That It For The Jump Space Augmented Update?

Not only does the Jump Space Augmented update bring all of these new and fun additions, but it also brings the Yuletide event. With the Christmas season rolling in, Bozze wants your help gathering presents for your fellow Atiran survivors. And as a reward, you’ll receive the Winter Zorbok helmet forever.

So with all of that in mind, set course for your next mission and gather your crew to try out the new update. And don’t forget, you’re the face of the Atiran resistance, so don’t falter!
