Hell Let Loose update 19 arrived on December 3, 2025, with some of the most explosive changes to the game, literally. The main attractions of this update are the new SPA (self-propelled artillery) vehicles, but that’s not all. This update also features a new map set in the Eastern Front along the Dnieper River, named Smolensk.

The Contents Of Hell Let Loose Update 19

Hell Let Loose update 19 adds a new map, vehicle class, and infantry class to the beloved WW2 shooter. The first content addition we’ll talk about is the new map, Smolensk, a tight, dense urban hellscape. According to the developers, Smolensk is the largest urban environment in all of Hell Let Loose.

Smolensk’s design emphasizes vertical combat, with buildings that you can enter spanning three stories. So when fighting in the streets of Smolensk, you’d better look up, down, and all around to keep your head in one piece. Though you wouldn’t have to worry about getting your head blown off in a metal death fridge now, would you?

To complement these tight urban environments, Hell Let Loose update 19 introduces a new vehicle class, the SPA vehicles. These mobile, armored howitzers can cruise through the streets of Smolensk to deliver devastating artillery fire. As of Hell Let Loose update 19, each faction contains one SPA; these SPAs are as follows:

• The Soviet Union Red Army: The Soviets get the death fridge itself, the Kliment Voroshilov 2, AKA, the KV-2.

• The United States Army: US troops get their own SPA support in the form of the Sherman M4A3 105, a medium tank chassis and turret with a 105mm howitzer.

• The German Heer: The Germans have their own SPA, and it’s none other than the Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär. This fierce artillery piece comes equipped with a 150mm howitzer, similar to the Soviet KV-2.

• The British Army: The Brits are known for their impressive armaments, especially for their tanks, and the Churchill Mk III AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineer) is no different. Built on the Churchill chassis, the AVRE sports a massive 230mm Petard mortar for maximum destruction.

• The Deutsches Afrikakorps: The German Afrikakorps rolls across the dunes of Africa with the Panzerkampfwagen III Ausführung N. This Panzer III comes armed with the deadly 75mm howitzer; despite its smaller size, it’s still lethal.

• The British Eighth Army: The field army of the British gains the Bishop SP 25pdr, an SPA armed with an 87.6mm artillery piece.

SPAs can either join their infantry and support them with direct fire or set up far away to provide indirect artillery support. These SPAs aren’t defenseless against other armored vehicles either, though their capabilities are limited. The armor-piercing rounds for these SPAs provide incredible penetration and damage, capable of destroying any non-heavy tank.

Unfortunately, the reloads for SPAs are egregiously slow, so gunners better not miss. However, if mobile artillery isn’t your jam, then static artillery might interest you more. Both the new mobile SPA and the old static artillery share the same Artillery class, so you have a choice between the two.

The Artillery class has the Artillery Observer, Engineer, and Support roles for a complete squad. The roles and their purposes are as follows:

• The Artillery Observer: The Observer is the squad leader who also scouts for targets to bombard.
• The Artillery Engineer: The Engineer can repair the artillery piece and can build defenses around it.
• The Artillery Support: The Support carries a supply box that contains everything critical to assembling the artillery piece.

Gather your artillery squad with the new Artillery class and provide your frontline troops with effective bombardments; they’re counting on you.

Will There Be More SPA Vehicles After Hell Let Loose Update 19?

Hell Let Loose update 19 marks the introduction of these new SPA vehicles, the very first iteration of them. The developers have stated that the balancing of these vehicles hinges on feedback, so let them know what you think. And who knows, alongside balance adjustments, the developers might add in new SPA vehicles too.
