Many people wouldn’t believe the concept of the War Thunder infantry mode; they might even laugh at the idea. But that silly concept is definitely genuine, and it’s arriving in War Thunder much sooner than you’d think. Though I wouldn’t blame you for thinking it’s still fake, it got announced on April Fools’ Day after all.

The War Thunder infantry mode is the talk of the town with the recent reveal of the Line of Contact update. The Line of Contact update trailer revealed several new vehicles, as usual, but it had another trick up its sleeve. The trailer also revealed that the infantry mode that Gaijin teased a while back wasn’t an April Fool’s joke.

What We Know About The War Thunder Infantry Mode

Gaijin first teased the War Thunder infantry mode on April 1, 2025, alongside the Great War April Fools event. Unfortunately, many players thought the infantry mode was a joke, like the Great War event. And no one could blame those players for believing that the infantry announcement was a joke.

The announcement on April 1, 2025, stated that closed beta testing for the infantry mode would begin very soon. And on December 4, 2025, with the announcement of the Line of Contact update, sign-ups for the closed beta will officially begin. But before you sign up, you must learn about the closed beta and what infantry gameplay offers.

Gaijin will conduct the closed beta in several stages, with participants selected at random for each stage. Participants, no matter the stage, will gain access to all future stages, so don’t worry about losing access when one stage ends. The beta is available on Windows, Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, so it’s going to get full quickly.

After signing up, all you have to do is wait for an invitation during the several stages of beta testing. The invitation comes in the form of an email or an in-game notification for the account you used when signing up. And when you’re in the closed beta test, here’s what you need to know about the War Thunder infantry mode.

The War Thunder infantry mode will put you into massive-scale battles as a simple soldier. As a soldier, players can adopt various combat roles while using modern weapons, gear, and equipment. Tanks, IFVs, drones, and helicopters are also present to either support or pressure your team.

Thankfully, with the various combat roles that you can adopt, you can take down these metal beasts on your own. Players can equip MANPADS (Man-portable air-defense system) and rocket launchers to take down these support elements. Not only that, but players can also equip and customize a whole arsenal of weapons to their liking.

The War Thunder infantry mode is the perfect place to unite your infantry and vehicle-loving friends. Your infantry friend can clear out buildings to prevent top-attack ambushes, and your vehicle friend can support your pushes. So tell your friends all about it, because the War Thunder infantry mode is fun for everyone.

How Will The War Thunder Infantry Mode Play?

Unfortunately, no gameplay of the War Thunder infantry mode is available to show. So all we can do is wait for the closed beta to start, but until then, we will just have to suffer. But the start of the War Thunder infantry mode beta might arrive much sooner than many would think.

In the Line of Contact update blog, Gaijin mentioned that more details will arrive soon in the form of a dev blog. But until then, keep on playing one of the most detailed vehicle combat games in the market.
