Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the long-awaited Spider-Man film, has finally received an official release date. At CinemaCon 2025, Sony confirmed that the film is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 4, 2027.

Although many major sites have cited June 4 as the official release date, a few sources have flagged a potential shift to June 25. However, as of April 2025, Sony’s official CinemaCon and press channels continue to reference June 4 as the launch date.

A Quick Recap Before Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

After years of silence and shifting schedules, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has finally set a target. The animated trilogy’s third part is now aiming for June 4, 2027, per the official announcement by CinemaCon 2025. Sony shared the news both at the event and through the Twitter account @SpiderVerse, reigniting hope for fans who’ve been waiting since 2023.

He gets bitten by a radioactive spider and ends up developing Spider-Man powers. Moving forward, he learns about other spider-people from other universes. This masterpiece went on to become the first non-Disney film to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2019.

Next up, we have its following sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, in 2023. Miles meets hundreds of Spider-People from different dimensions and forms a group called the Spider-Society. Now, here’s the twist: the leader believes canon events, aka fixed Spider-Man moments, must never be changed. To put it simply, Miles needs to let a terrible event happen in his world.

Miles refuses to follow that rule. And unsurprisingly, it ends in bad faith. Miles gets trapped in an alternate universe where he never became Spider-Man. To add to the trouble, a version of himself, the evil kind named “The Prowler,” gets the power.

The third movie will likely pick up from the huge cliffhanger and unfold what happens next.

The original release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was set for March 29, 2024, but was disputed due to studio delays and the strike. Then, the dates moved on to June 4, 2025; this time, production was the reason. Now, finally, CinemaCon has officially marked June 4, 2027, as the D-Day.

To summarize, it was a long battle of hurdles and industry disruptions. It started with the 2023 Writers and Actors Strikes. And later on, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller reportedly scrapped the whole project. From the looks of it, the official date was a strategic positioning to avoid competing with other films.

That’s the crux of it. But are you wondering what to do while waiting? First off, mark your calendars for June 4, 2027. We’ve got so much time, rewatching the trilogy can’t be a bad idea. And if you’re still itching for something new, then check out the 2023 short film, The Spider Within.
