The fans of The Shooter want Valorant on PS4. Riot initially launched the Shooter exclusively on PC. The developers did not plan to make a console version at first, and initially tried to keep it a PC exclusive.

Did Riot make a console port for the Shooter? We will discuss this question in this article.

Did Riot Listen To The Demand Of The Fans And Launch a Valorant on PS4?

No, Valorant on PS4 is not available, and Riot’s Shooter is not compatible with the older generation. However, Riot did launch a console version of the game. Valorant is available on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Valorant console was officially released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 2, 2024. The limited beta began on June 14, 2024.

Although console players on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can compete with and against one another, Valorant does not support crossplay between console and PC players. The game only offers limited cross-platform support. Because players on both consoles compete on the same playing field, no one has an advantage over the others.

Riot Games has indicated that it wishes to preserve a fair and balanced competitive environment. The input differences between PCs and consoles are enormous. Thus, combining these two could give PC players an unfair advantage.

According to the official tracker.gg website, there are over 14 million Valorant players on PC and consoles as of June 2025. Valorant has not had a separate player pool on consoles and PC since its release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Since the FPS was released on consoles, the Valorant player base has grown tremendously. According to tracker.gg, the game’s player count increased significantly during the month it was released on consoles.

Over time, the game has evolved. With the introduction of new Agents and their updated kits. Valorant has upgraded its simpler Agent kits to provide a little more zing, as each new character introduces a fresh variation to the competitive landscape.

Riot’s Efforts To Make Valorant On Console Attractive For PC Players

Valorant PC and consoles have a feature known as cross-progression, which allows all cosmetics to be carried over between the platforms. However, the competitive ranking does not do this. The platforms have separate ranks and MMRs.

This cross-progression makes it so that PC players who have spent their money on the PC version of the game to buy skins and battle passes need not have to spend more of their hard-earned money to play the console version of the game with their favorite skins. Thus, it reduces a layer of friction from the player’s perspective and making it easier to try out both versions of the game.

Riot’s FPS has evolved significantly throughout the years. Devs focused on optimization to reach a large player population and released a console version, which introduced additional players to the player base while keeping the community happy and growing. Riot developers have been extremely successful in their careers.
