Dead by Daylight is a one-versus-four player game, and it’s been that way for the nine years it’s been out. While a lot of the game has changed, one mechanic that hasn’t been touched much is the knocked-down state.
However, it seems that with more and more players joining each year, the team has decided to twist that mechanic. While some are saying it’s not that big, killer mains are rather scared of this massive change with no notice.
Dead by Daylight’s Deadly Demise?

Dead by Daylight is a game that needs balance in order to be played, and it’s been done well recently. Many players have been enjoying the game since the release of the Walking Dead chapter and the 2v8 mode.
However, Behavior Interactive released the patch notes for the PTB for version 9.2.0, where they focused on slugging. Slugging is where the killer leaves the survivor in a knocked state, leaving them to bleed out over time.
It’s often considered toxic when slugging, and most people tend to avoid playing like that unless survivors make a mistake. Since it’s often seen as a punishment for a mistake being made, most players don’t mind when slugging happens.
Which is why many people dislike the massive buff survivors are getting when it comes to getting slugged. The changes make some killers like Oni, who punishes survivors with slugging, weaker for little to no benefit to them.
The new buffs will allow survivors to crawl faster than they can currently, while recovering at the same pace. While that may seem minor, there was already a perk for survivors that allowed them to crawl while recovering.
This means that the perk now has to be changed, and while new perks are welcomed, this gets even stranger. The survivors also gain the ability to heal themself out of the knocked state after ninety seconds if slugged.
A large number of perks focus on and allow survivors to heal from being knocked, and also going through changes. These were perks that were strong when used, but were also useless if never used, making you weaker overall.
With the new update, this means that survivors no longer need to have those perks, rewarding them for making mistakes. While some people think that may be fine, the game is built on taking advantage of mistakes from both sides.
Rewarding mistakes will lead to unbalance and may kill the game’s life while it is still here. However, we’ll only know how it plays once the update is released, so until then!
