On May 27, 2025, Behaviour Interactive held a Dead by Daylight anniversary stream to excite the fanbase with what the game’s future holds for us. While many fans were talking about who may be coming after the FNAF DLC, one thing was overshadowed: the end of the anniversary theme.
The Twisted Masquerade, Dead By Daylight’s anniversary theme for four years now, will change to a new theme next year, breaking fans’ hearts. With the change of theme, a fan favorite character and host of the in-game event, Tryks, will also be removed.
What Makes the Dead by Daylight Anniversary Event special?
The event, taking place from June 26th to July 17th in 2025, features many gameplay changes in the mode that comes with it. The new game mode, called Twisted Masquerade, will also reward unique cosmetics for both survivors and killers that won’t return any time soon.
While survivors and killers fight to win, Tryks will come in and cause sudden tricks to happen that may help or hinder both sides’ chances. These tricks could be anywhere from speeding up both sides to causing the locations of everyone to be revealed.
That isn’t the only gameplay change, as Bags of trykes will also spawn in, giving whoever holds time greater powers to assist them in winning. They can be found around the map, spawning on small pillars and letting you see their location when close by.
Survivors can create a Party Pallet to drop, stunning the killer if it hits, but it instantly breaks, as well as other effects. Killers can gain the ability to break pallets or breakable walls, letting them continue hunting while taking away a limited resource from the survivors, and more effects like the survivors.
What About the Limited-Time Rewards?
Both sides of the game will get rewards that you can unlock by doing challenges, granting event currency that lets you buy them without spending money. This is so that players don’t have to grind to get the ones they want, but gives those who want them all a challenge.
These rewards can be anywhere from masks, since it’s a masquerade, to weapon skins for killers to hunt survivors down with. There’s also an option to buy the past years’ masquerade cosmetics, though with money instead of event currency.
While grinding challenges for the event currency, you’ll also be rewarded with cosmetic pieces that make a full set for two characters. These sets belong to David King from the survivor side, and The Wraith from the killer side, dressing up fully for the masquerade.
Those aren’t the only cosmetics you can get, with in-game banners and badges being available to get, as well as charms to show off your style.
With all of that, this year will be the biggest anniversary the game has seen with the help of Springtrap being added. Dead By Daylight normally gets discounted for the summer sale soon, making it a great time to get it as well as DLCs. I hope everyone enjoys it this year, and happy 9th anniversary to Dead by Daylight!
