A new SCP 5K update has arrived, and it brings a plethora of terrifying new additions to the SCP facility. Alongside the main attraction, the new SCP 5K update also introduces several adjustments for a smoother gameplay experience. And as of August 21, 2025, you and your friends can enjoy everything added in the new SCP 5K update.

This latest update aims to enhance the relatively straightforward Wave Survival game mode with a thrilling new rework. This rework completely changes the Wave Survival formula, with new arenas and obstacles to overcome. Fortunately, the original Wave Survival mode will still be available since it is separate from the reworked version.

As mentioned, the new SCP 5K update features a brand new Wave Survival game mode called the Test Chambers. The Test Chambers is a reworked version of the classic Wave Survival, which is still available alongside the Test Chambers. Both modes will now reside in the Discover Program category, which, when selected, gives both modes as options to play.

The Test Chambers mode added by the new SCP 5K update is quite different from the classic Wave Survival mode. While they are similar, both contain wave survival elements with gradual weapon unlock mechanics; they do have their differences. These differences will become apparent once you experience the new Test Chambers game mode.

The classic Wave Survival pits a team of MTF (Mobile Task Force) operatives against a wave of enemies. You and your team start with simple sidearms, and as you complete waves, more sophisticated weapons will begin to appear. Health and ammo pickups will also appear and spawn from supply boxes around the arena.

Now, the Test Chambers do share some of those mechanics, but they still have significant differences. These differences are that players now play as D-Class personnel, convicts conscripted into test subjects for the SCP Foundation. The D-Class must face creatures beyond and near human comprehension to increase their credit and team rank.

After completing a level, an elevator will appear to take players to the upgrade station, SCP-914. D-Class may use SCP-914 to upgrade their equipment by depositing it into the SCP-914. Once deposited, D-Class may turn the knob on SCP-914, which reads rough, coarse, 1:1, fine, and very fine.

These options either make weapons worse, slightly better, better, or may have a chance of vastly improving them. The last option, very fine, may turn weapons into super weapons, but are you willing to take that risk? However, “very fine” requires a high team rank and many credits to have a chance of obtaining a super weapon.

Both credits and team rank are earnable by completing levels, but players can earn extra of both by accepting and completing challenges. D-Class personnel may accept these challenges in the common area before every level. But do be careful, you wouldn’t want to bite more than you can chew, so choose wisely.

The Contents Added In The New SCP 5K Update

In addition to the Test Chambers game mode, the new SCP 5K update also presents a host of new content. First, there is SCP-1114-D, the D-Crash Dummies, living crash test dummies that pursue players with fists or guns. These D-Crash Dummies can either use their fists for melee combat or rifles for longer range combat.

Second, the melee and ranged weapons added by the new SCP 5K update. Some of these melee weapons are available across the Test Chambers, while some come from fault outputs from SCP-914. Furthermore, the ranged weapons consist of throwables, gained from faulty SCP-914 outputs, and the M590 Shockwave.

And finally, the Mercy Boxes present in every level of the Test Chambers game mode. The Mercy Boxes supplement players with ammunition and health items at the cost of credits. However, these Mercy Boxes are more of a last resort, as there are already health and ammo pickups around the arena.

Besides the new Test Chambers mode in the new SCP 5K update, there are also a whole bunch of under-the-hood changes. These changes resolve a host of bugs and enhance the gameplay for every player. So this is the best time to join in on the frightening SCP 5K fun, either alone or with a team.

Now get ready to face the horrors that may or may not be beyond our comprehension and defend humanity. And remember, you don’t recognize the bodies in the water.
