Another Helldivers 2 Content Roadmap Has Arrived From High Command, And It Has Worried Many

A second Helldivers 2 content roadmap has arrived straight from High Command, and it has a good chunk of the community worried. The roadmap arrived on August 31, 2026, and it reveals the content coming in September, October, and December. And like the previous roadmap, it also reveals the contents of the current major update, but we’ll skip that.

The new Helldivers 2 content roadmap gives players something to look forward to, unlike the waiting and guessing what comes next of old. Unfortunately, the roadmap is still rather vague, but that’s to keep the upcoming content a surprise. With that in mind, let’s dive straight into the newest roadmap and what it contains.

What We Can See In The New Helldivers 2 Content Roadmap

Since the new Helldivers 2 content roadmap covers the Devoid of Liberty major update, I’ll skip it and move on to the other months. Without the mentioned major update in August, we’ll be covering what’s coming in September, October, and December. So, let’s start with the month we’re currently in and see what we can expect.

September

Unfortunately, from the looks of it, the September section of the Helldivers 2 content roadmap is looking rather bare, though we did just come hot off a major update. We’ll only see a new Warbond, which I’ll cover once it’s revealed, of course, and two new rewards. These two new rewards are presumably rewards for the liberation of the Void.

October

The October section of the new Helldivers 2 content roadmap has much more meat on its bones; it could even be seen as a mini major update. Though it doesn’t surprise me that there’s a lot in October, as it’s the month of Liberty Day. But that’s not the only thing that I’ve got my eyes on for October.

The content coming in October is as follows:

  • The Liberty Day Event
  • A New Warbond
  • New Missions
  • A New Biome
  • A New Enemy
  • A New Galactic War Event
  • A New Reward

Judging from the Helldivers 2 content roadmap, October will be the month for the filthy Terminids, so much of the mentioned content will involve them. And as usual, I’m incredibly excited to see what Arrowhead has cooking up for October, but I’m still slightly concerned, as is a good chunk of the community. I’ll save the concern until the end, so stick with me here.

December

We’re skipping a month because, in the words of the developers, they’ll be too busy with the release of GTA 6, and honestly, who can blame them? After November rolls over and we welcome December, we’ll see a new major update in our hands: the 8.0 update. And according to the Helldivers 2 content roadmap, it’ll focus on the Automatons, and that’s what gets people a little concerned.

Why Are People Worried About The New Helldivers 2 Content Roadmap?

While the new Helldivers 2 content roadmap looks pretty decent, the main concern stems from the Devoid of Liberty major update. While the Void campaign and the new Illuminate content are rather cool, it’s gone within weeks of its release. Additionally, the Illuminates were the main feature of this major update; they’re featured on the cover art and everything.

Because of the Illuminates’ absence so soon after their featured major update, it has worried quite a few players. Has Arrowhead really dropped the new content so soon after its release, and did Arrowhead really remove the playable Void planets too soon? Because of these events, players are worried that Arrowhead is now using FOMO tactics.

FOMO means fear of missing out, and it’s what game companies have been using to make players play their games, or else they’ll miss out. FOMO is the very thing that Arrowhead has sworn not to use, and they’ve done a good job of it so far. But if the Void, its subsequent planets, and planet types are gone so soon after their release, it worries players.

It also worries players because many find the Illuminates disappointing with their current roster of units. The playerbase’s fear of FOMO also applies to the upcoming Automaton major update in December. They fear it because it could go one of two ways, based on what they can currently see with the Devoid of Liberty update:

  • The same thing happens as with the Devoid of Liberty update, where they introduce a couple of new enemy units and remove the new content weeks into the update.
  • The Automatons get way more content than the Illuminate, reinforcing that the Illuminate are a neglected enemy faction that deserves more love and attention.

I strongly believe they’ll reintroduce these limited-time features soon, because I believe in their integrity and have believed for a long time. But if it turns out that they’re using FOMO tactics, then I’ll be the first to call them out, because they won’t be the Arrowhead I know and love. So here’s hoping that it doesn’t come to that.

On a more positive note, the Devoid of Liberty update released with more features and fixes than bugs. And that is already a good sight to see, ever since they promised to release more polished updates, but they still have a long way to go with their list of bugs. Because what is game development without a few bugs here and there, as long as they fix them?

Until the next big thing, I hope to see you out there on the battlefield, my fellow Helldivers. And when the next big thing does arrive, you’ll know where to look for more information. Now, let’s take a moment to celebrate Zefia’s liberation from the Borgs before going back into the fray, of course.
