With the recent foray into the Void, many Helldivers need to know how to defeat the Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators. These mechanical menaces think that enhanced technology will help them overcome humanity’s might. Well, they’re wrong, because nothing can defeat us and our way of life.
But just because the Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators can’t overcome the Helldivers’ firepower doesn’t mean they still provide quite the challenge. These machines are a new obstacle on the battlefield, and you need to learn how to overcome these challenges. So let’s take a look at these mechanical threats so you can join the war effort ASAP.
The Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators And How To Combat Them

The Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators consist of the Overseer, Elevated Overseer, Watcher, Obtruder, Harvester, Veracitor, and Gatekeeper. We’ve covered everything except the Obtruder, Veracitor, and Gatekeeper in another guide, so I’ll focus on these three today. And let’s not waste any time and start with the Obtruder.
The Obtruder
The Obtruder is a weaker but more numerous variant of the standard Watcher. These machines roam in swarms and attack with highly choreographed projectile attacks, which aren’t really dangerous unless swarmed. And as mentioned, the Obtruder of the Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators is much weaker than the standard Watcher, but they make up for it with numbers.
Because the Obtruder is weak and operates in swarms, any weapon can work against it, especially crowd control weapons. This lets Helldivers use almost every weapon in the game to combat this flying threat, and it also lets them use many support weapons against it too. So, you can bring weapons to fight the bigger enemies along with the Obtruders.
The support weapons that work well against the Obtruder are as follows:
- The various machine guns
- The Autocannon in flak mode
- The Laser Canon
- The Wasp in burst mode
- The Arc Thrower
- The De-Escalator
- The Maxigun
- The Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher
- The Cremator
- The Bullet Storm
The Veracitor
The melee mech of the Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators, the Veracitor roams the battlefield with humongous claws. It swipes and slams with its mechanical arms, and it also protects itself by covering its cockpit with its arms. As mentioned, the Veracitor has a cockpit, and so does the Gatekeeper, which can be targeted to take out its pilot.
There are two methods for destroying the Veracitor: you either destroy the mech or the pilot. Targeting the pilot requires you to take down the shield first before the pilot becomes exposed. This doesn’t take much effort or require a support weapon; the humble Liberator can take down these mechs with ease.
The other method is to destroy the mech itself, which has two methods in and of itself. The first method is to target the glowing weak spot behind the cockpit, but this might be difficult, as the Varictor will most likely be facing you. The second method is to target the chassis, which is located along the center of the main body, legs, or the cockpit itself.
While the Veracitor has more health than the Gatekeeper, it has much less armor for you to deal with. Because of that, a medium penetration or higher machine gun can shred these glorified forklifts. But if you want to use something of a heavier caliber, then the Recoiless Rifle or Spear might be up your alley.
The support weapons that work well against the Veracitor are as follows:
- The various machine guns
- The Recoiless Rifle with HEAT shells
- The EAT
- The Commando
- The Spear
- The Wasp in burst mode
- The Quasar Cannon
- The Laser Cannon
- The Grenade Launcher
- The De-Escalator
- The Maxigun
- The Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher
- The Bullet Storm
The Gatekeeper
The Gatekeeper is the more armored version of the Veracitor from the Helldivers 2 Illuminate Appropriators, sporting armor plates and ranged cannons. Gatekeepers fight at range with their cannons, with volleys of plasma and charged plasma blasts, or a bludgeoning strike. But because it stays farther away and has cannons instead of arms, it’s much more exposed.
Not only can it not cover its cockpit with its cannons, but it stands relatively still, making it an easy target. Targeting the chassis and cockpit with anything higher than medium penetration will take it down. But if you don’t have that, then targeting its glowing weak spots, which are behind its cockpit and main body, and the pilot with light pen will do the same.
The support weapons that work well against the Gatekeeper are as follows:
- The various machine guns
- The Recoiless Rifle with HEAT shells
- The EAT
- The Commando
- The Spear
- The Wasp in burst mode
- The Quasar Cannon
- The Laser Cannon
- The De-Escalator
- The Maxigun
- The Bullet Storm
