The final update for our favorite friend gem of a game has arrived, and it comes in the form of the Peak Final Ascent update. This update introduces the final pieces of content to the game before the developers can finally finish their unexpectedly long development of Peak. But don’t be sad because it ended; be happy that it happened.
Jokes aside, the Peak Final Ascent update isn’t the last you’ll hear from Peak, as the developers are working to port Peak onto consoles. Besides the planned console port, this is the final content update for the game, so we’ll only see the occasional bug fix from now on. But let’s not get all sad and bothered, and let’s take a look at what the final update has for us.
The Contents Of the Peak Final Ascent Update

The Peak Final Ascent update features several additions to the game to close off its development. These additions include new biomes, items, ascents, fixes, rebalances, and something super secret that I’ll hint at the end. But let’s begin our small list with the main attraction of this update, the new biomes that replace the Caldera and Kiln.
The New Biomes
The first new biome you’ll encounter is the sleepy, swampy Gloom, which replaces the fiery, lava-filled Caldera. Instead of lava, the Gloom is filled to the brim with a strange miasma that puts anyone who dares enter into a deep slumber. Thankfully, there are a few safe havens above this dozy veil, but be careful that something doesn’t drag you back in.
The second and last new biome, the ancient, treacherous Citadel, replaces the blazing Kiln. The Citadel is filled to the brim with traps that would make the likes of Rube Goldberg proud, but that’s not the only threat you’ll have to worry about. Similar to the Kiln, the Gloom’s miasma will start to pressure you after some time, and it will keep rising.
The New Items
The Peak Final Ascent update adds in quite a few new items, but the total number of them is currently unknown. So, we’ll go over the ones that we do know, including a couple of secret ones that may lead to something even bigger. But I’ll hold my tongue until the very end, because who doesn’t love a little secret?
The new items that we know of in the Peak Finale Ascent update are as follows:
- The Jetpack: This item slots into your backpack slot and allows you to propel yourself to new heights. However, it does take fuel, but it takes anything as fuel.
- The Warp Fungus: A new type of fungus that grows where you find other fungus growths. Many Minecraft players will know how to use this to their advantage; make sure it lands where you want it to.
- The Glider: A new mobility item that lets you play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for as long as you have stamina.
- The Candlestick: A simple candlestick that hides a life-saving property. Being that it can only be found in the Gloom or Citadel, this candle protects against the Gloom when lit.
- The Scout Gems: When playing the new update, you may notice this strange shimmering in each biome. And if you reach the shimmering location, you’ll encounter a strange scout statue with a gem. It’s said that if you collect enough of these gems, you can slot them into a statue found near the top of the mountain for a final challenge.
The New Ascent, Badges, And Luggage
These are a rather small part of the Peak Final Ascent update, so I’ll group them all together. But you heard that right: the Final Ascent update features the eighth and final Ascent for scouts to conquer. Unfortunately, the developers have stated that the description of this Ascent is a bit of a spoiler, so you’ll have to access it to find out for yourself.
Ascent 7 has received a minor adjustment to its features, as it now starts scouts cursed and gives them more cursed per revive. After that, we have 10 new badges for you to earn, and the developers promise that this is the last time they’ll touch them, so rejoice for those who 100% the game. And lastly, you can discover a new type of luggage, the Clown Luggage.
The contents that can only be found in the clown luggage are as follows:
- The Lollipop
- The Cannon
- The Balloon Bunch
Is That All For The Peak Final Ascent Update?
That is indeed all for the Peak Final Ascent update, at least as far as we know, as a few items remain a mystery. Other than those and the various bug fixes and balancing changes, that is indeed all the Peak Final Ascent update has to offer. It’s quite a strange feeling to see the end of a game like Peak.
But I don’t mean end in the sense that it’s no longer there, as it will remain online and available for the foreseeable future. I meant that such a great game has finally reached a completed state, in a sense, but that means that scouts have everything they need to conquer the mountain to its fullest. So quit lolygagging, let’s get off this island!
