The Mighty New Helldivers 2 FRVs And How They Compare To The Original

Players have gotten a taste of the new Helldivers 2 FRVs, and we’re on our way to getting one of them. But some players haven’t gotten the chance to sample the new FRVs, leaving them in the dark about the upcoming toys. Thankfully, I’ve used both, so I’ll give a summary of my experience with them for those who weren’t able to try them.

The new Helldivers 2 FRVs provide two new versions of the already existing FRV with a heavy machine gun on top. And it seems that the community has gravitated towards one particular FRV, but why have they, and what does it do? Well, we’re going to answer both of those questions and more.

The New Helldivers 2 FRVs

The new Helldivers 2 FRVs come in two forms: the Incinerator FRV and the Supply FRV. Players could choose to unlock either upon the success of the current Campaign by liberating a certain planet. By liberating Sangis, players could receive the Incinerator FRV, and by liberating Basquine VIII, they could receive the Supply FRV.

And it seems the community has won the Supply FRV, as they’ve liberated Basquine VIII first. However, they still have to complete the Campaign, and they’ve already lost one of the three Major Orders in this Campaign. The Helldivers have to lock in for the next two Major Orders to earn the new Supply FRV, or risk waiting for another opportunity.

But let’s not fret for now, we’ve got to learn how to use these new vehicles, especially the Supply FRV. Because of the generous arsenal augmentation from High Command, the Supply FRV is available for everyone for the duration of the Campaign. So, what’s a more fitting way to start than to talk about the Supply FRV?

The Supply FRV

The first of the new Helldivers 2 FRVs that we’ll talk about is the Supply FRV, which we’ll soon receive if we succeed in the current Campaign. This FRV replaces the heavy machine gun in the back with an automated turret, like that of the Armed Resupply Pods booster. Not only that, but this FRV also replaces the entire rear with a resupply station.

As the name implies, the Supply FRV specializes in resupplying your team and keeping your firepower stocked. The Supply FRV features a total of eight resupplies in its rear, which amounts to two whole resupply pods. However, you can use those extra supplies for another neat thing the Supply FRV has, the automated turret.

By interacting with the rear sides of the Supply FRV, you can reload the top-mounted automated turret for the price of one resupply. Unfortunately, the turret doesn’t last very long, so consider saving those supplies for your team rather than the turret. Though if you want some protection for your vehicle while you’re outside of it, consider using it.

The Incinerator FRV

Sadly, we won’t be receiving this FRV, at least for now, but it wouldn’t hurt to learn about it. Hopefully, we can unlock this variant from a future Campaign or another unknown method. But what makes it so different from the standard FRV, and how can you use it when it makes its eventual return?

Well, the Incinerator FRV has quite a few differences, starting with the rear-mounted weapon. The Incinerator FRV features a rear-mounted B/FLAM-80 Cremator instead of the usual MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun, but where do you keep the ammo? Why the back seats, of course, which decreases the total seat space to three.

Fortunately, to make up for the lack of space for your last teammate, this FRV has much more ammo and armor. Instead of 2,400 health, the Incinerator FRV has 2,900, and it doesn’t stop there, as the rear weapon also has a ton of ammo. The rear Cremator takes 100 seconds of continuous fire to empty its 800 units of fuel.

The Differences Between The New Helldivers 2 FRVs

The new Helldivers 2 FRVs have a few differences compared to the original FRV. So, I thought it’d be a good idea to list them out so that you can see the pros and cons of each FRV. I’ll be comparing the new Helldivers 2 FRVs to the standard FRV, so keep that in mind as I list these differences below.

The differences between the new Helldivers 2 FRVs compared to the standard one are as follows:

  • The Supply FRV:
    • Features the same top speed but higher acceleration compared to the standard FRV
    • Features a reloadable ammo-hungry automated gun instead of a heavy machine gun
    • Features eight resupply boxes in the rear that aren’t affected by the Superior Packing Methodology upgrade
    • Features an upgraded bumper that slightly reduces the top speed needed to kill small enemies
    • Features four seat slots, one less than the standard FRV
  • The Incenerator FRV:
    • Features a lower top speed, acceleration, and handling compared to the standard FRV
    • Features a B/FLAM-80 Cremator in place of the MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun
    • Features a massive fuel cannister in the rear seats that can cause a big enough explosion to destroy Rogue Research Stations and Stratagem Jammers when full
    • Features an upgraded bumper that reduces the stagger/push force of enemy collisions. Sadly, this is all we know until further testing.
    • Features three seat slots, two less than the standard FRV

Is That All For The New Helldivers 2 FRVs?

For now, that is indeed all there is for the new Helldivers 2 FRVs, but let’s hope that that changes with time and testing. What you see here is everything I took note of from my own gameplay and from other players’ observations. So, new information could surface after the release of this informational guide.

And if there’s enough new information to pile them into a guide like this, then you’ll know where to look to find that exact guide. But until then, we’re losing this Campaign by one Major Order, so we’ve gotta lock in and win the current one and the next one. Now get in that pod, Helldiver, and get liberating!
