The Peak team has taken all of your complaints and requests to heart and has released the Peak Play It Your Way update. It was nearly impossible to create the perfect Peak for everyone, so they decided to let the players create it themselves. Hopefully, this will appease the playerbase enough to hold them over until the next major update.
The Peak Play It Your Way update crash landed onto our deserted island on March 31, 2026, a day before the day of fools. With it came the most extensive roster of additions in Peak history, at least in terms of functionality. So, let’s take a look at what the update has in its luggage for us before the fog creeps up on us.
The Contents Of the Peak Play It Your Way Update

The Peak Play It Your Way update features several new additions to the game to improve the quality of life on your island escape adventure. Many of these additions have been requested or complained into existence by the community. Let’s start with the biggest addition in the update, the new customizable runs.
The New Custom Run Mode
For the longest time, players have fought over what should and shouldn’t be in the game. These can include certain items, hazards, and biome effects, such as the wind in the recent Roots biome. Players on both sides of the argument can rejoice as the new Custom Run mode is here with the Peak Play It Your Way update.
In this mode, you can customize what elements you want in the game, such as:
- Gameplay: Fog, hunger, item weight, etc.
- Hazards: Jellyfish, zombies, dynamite, etc.
- Spawnpool: Airline food, blowgun, balloon, etc.
Not only that, but you can also now do something called a Mini Run, which will allow you to play on one biome of that day’s map layout. Mini Runs allow players who don’t have a lot of time to get in and play Peak without dedicating too much time to it. However, if you want to play the whole island but in bite-sized pieces, then the next addition is for you.
The Campfire Improvements
The first campfire improvement is perfect for those who want to complete a full run in bite-sized pieces. That change is that campfires now autosave your progress when you reach their destination, allowing you to quit the game and come right back. So, if you’ve got a busy life or something unexpected comes up, then the campfires have your back.
However, if you don’t have time to quit the game when you’re at a campfire, then you needn’t worry. The second and last improvement to campfires essentially freezes time when huddled around the fire, letting you run off without a single worry. While around the campfire, hunger and fog no longer increase until a scout decides to leave the radius.
Is That All For The Peak Play It Your Way Update?

The Peak Play It Your Way update is a smaller update that features near infinite possibilities with the new Custom Run mode. It also introduces new campfire improvements to make it feel more like a genuine resting point rather than a dine-and-dash location. However, it doesn’t end there with these amazing additions.
The Peak Play It Your Way update also includes a new Kinemortophobia mode, AKA the zombie phobia mode, to put it simply. This mode turns the scout zombies into walking mushroom people, and if you’re afraid of giant moving mushrooms as well, then good luck. Besides this, the Peak Play It Your Way update also marks the arrival of two pieces of Peak merch.
You can now purchase the Makeshape Scoutmaster Myers plush and the Youtooz Bing Bong keychain. Besides these pieces of merchandise, that is indeed all for the Peak Play It Your Way update, but don’t worry, the developers aren’t done with Peak just yet. The Peak developers are currently busy with other projects, so the next update is months away.
But the new Custom Run mode should tide you over until those months pass by. So, until those months pass, it’s time to brave the wilderness and escape this unforgivable island once more. We really have to stop using BingBong Airlines if we want to stop crashing on this island.
