Another update for our favorite coop space game has arrived, and it’s the Jump Space Heated update. This update improves and introduces several game mechanics that fans have been requesting since Jump Space’s closed beta. The game is also on sale for this update, so that you or your friends can finally give Jump Space a try.
The main feature of the Jump Space Heated update is the change to a major part of the game, the Jump Map. It’s no longer the bare bones lane selection Jump Map that we’ve known for some time; it’s been completely reinvented and is now in a much better place. But that’s too vague, let’s delve into the details of the latest Jump Space update.
The Contents Of The Jump Space Heated Update

As mentioned, the Jump Space Heated update focuses on one of the primary gameplay elements of jumping from sector to sector. However, this update doesn’t only improve existing gameplay elements; it also introduces a few new ones. But let’s start with the featured change of the update, the updated Jump Map.
The Updated Jump Map
The Jump Map has expanded with the latest update, transforming it into a genuine map, unlike the old multiple-choice question design. With the new design, players can freely travel throughout the map without the need to go to one sector at a time. This change means that you can skip past a level and return to it at any time.
So, with this change, you can skip a sector that you aren’t prepared for and freely return to it when prepared. And if by any chance you entered a sector while completely unprepared, then you can freely exit that sector at any time. That is, if your jump drives aren’t blocked by an enemy in your area, of course.
The new map also pairs with another major addition in the Jump Space Heated update, the Heat mechanic, hence the name. The Heat mechanic introduces a new way for players to strategize their approach. And the Heat mechanic introduced in the Jump Space Heated update is exactly what we’ll talk about next.
The Heat Mechanic
The Heat mechanic represents how hard the final sector of your mission will become when you jump to it. With high Heat, enemies in the final sector will grow stronger, and negative events will appear during the final level. However, you can lower the Heat by clearing out sectors on the Jump Map.
Each mission lowers the Heat by a certain amount, depending on the difficulty of the completed mission. So, to make the final sector easier for you and your crew, you have to take on harder sectors before you reach that point. Oh, and remember, if you decide to leave the sector while it’s incomplete, get ready to lose out on the Heat reduction.
But Heat isn’t the only thing you’ll have to worry about when traversing from sector to sector in your missions. You didn’t think you could freely wander the map for as long as you’d like now, did you? Thanks to the Lava Wall, your time in your missions will have to be cut short, because if you don’t hurry, a high Heat finale will be the least of your problems.
The Lava Wall
As you progress through your mission, a red wall will creep up behind you, enveloping any sector in its way. And if you decide to journey into the red mass, then the only thing we’ll find belonging to you might be scrap. Journeying into the Lava Wall will face you against incredibly powerful foes that don’t pull any of their punches.
You may recognize this feature from another spaceship action game, and that game would be FTL: Faster Than Light, released in 2012. These walls of death share the same purpose in their respective games: to pressure the player. However, with careful planning and good decision-making, the ominous red wall won’t render you an abstract art piece of molten metal.
Though it isn’t all bad, the Jump Space Heated update also features additions for the player. Some of these features have been personally requested by the fans of Jump Space, in fact. And these additions are what we’ll discuss next.
The New Additions For The Player Character
The Jump Space Heated update introduces not only reworked and new gameplay elements, but it also adds some new toys for the player. The first of these additions is the addition of physics objects, such as grenades and the long-awaited soccer ball. Grenades come in the form of a frag grenade and a sticky version to relive your Halo days.
It doesn’t stop there, as players can now broaden their movement tech with the newly added sliding feature. Crouching while sprinting or hitting the ground with enough speed will allow you to slide across the ground, Titanfall 2 style. And if you combine your grapple hook or propulsion pack, you’ll even make Jack Cooper jealous.
Last but not least, you can finally arrange your power grid while in the hangar instead of having to go into your ship. This change will save players time as they won’t have to load into a mission each time they want to test out new ship loadouts. These changes to your player character will also help you with the new and improved threats you’ll face.
The New And Improved Enemies
The Jump Space Heated update also introduces a new enemy, along with improving the older ones. The new enemy in question is the Rocket Drone, a flying machine capable of dishing out explosive projectiles. For those of you who play Arc Raiders, this enemy should be very familiar to you, and thankfully, you aren’t as helpless in Jump Space.
New enemy aside, the entire roster of mechanical threats has had a balancing sweep with the latest update. Various enemy types now have more distinct behaviours when engaging with players, making each enemy type feel unique. Their damage and accuracy have also received a few tweaks, rendering them more challenging to engage.
Various other changes have been made to the enemy roster to make them feel less bullet-spongey and more fun to fight. Keepsake Games, the developers, have asked players to try out the new enemies and provide their feedback for further improvements.
Is That All For The Jump Space Heated Update?
Besides the Jump Space Heated update features listed above, there are a few more additions we haven’t mentioned. These additions include new POIs for you to explore, with unique mechanics included in them, and various small improvements. These unmentioned additions also include the vast list of bug fixes that even the developers couldn’t fully list.
But reading about the update all day is no fun; it’s time to jump into Jump Space and try out the Jump Space Heated update for yourself. If you don’t have Jump Space, then you’re in luck because Jump Space is 20% off until April 2, 2026. You can even bring in a few friends with you, so make sure to let them know about the sale.
Once you gather your crew and arm yourselves, it’s time to journey into the machine-infested sectors and clear them out once and for all!
