The Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch arrived on March 17, 2026, and it comes with some amazing changes. This patch also comes with some exciting additions that we’ll have to wait for a couple more days to see, but the wait is worth it. But until that day comes, we’ll be taking a look at some of the balancing changes Arrowhead made in this patch.

The Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch features a few changes that players have requested for a while now. Could this hint that Arrowhead is finally starting to listen to the community’s voice and its requests again after focusing on optimization? We’ll have to wait and see in that regard, but we won’t have to wait to see these balancing changes.

The Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch features a whole host of additions, including new enemies, planetary effects, bug fixes, and a new mission type. However, we’ll focus on the balancing changes for now, as we’ll have to wait for the other contents to arrive. Let’s start with the most requested balancing change in Helldivers 2 history, the flamethrower changes.

The Flamethrower Changes

Since its inception, flame weapons in Helldivers 2 have had their fair share of controversies, but it seems to be improving with the latest patch. With the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch, flamethrowers of all kinds now slow and confuse enemies when directly hitting them. However, this effect only gets applied to specific enemy types.

Small to medium Automatons, small to large Terminids, and small to medium Illuminates will be confused and panic when hit. Some of you might be wondering, doesn’t this completely render the TX-41 Sterilizer obsolete? Well, technically, yes, the TX-41 Sterilizer does get completely outmatched in almost every way.

However, the confusion and panic effect only applies to enemies when directly hit with the stream of fire from flamethrowers. The TX-41 Sterilizer, on the other hand, applies the confusion effect as a status effect. This status effect stays for 10 seconds after the stream of gas ends.

It’s still undeniable that the TX-41 Sterilizer needs a buff, as flamethrowers can now do its job and perhaps even better. If Arrowhead continues to listen to the community, then TX-41 Sterilizer users may receive the improvements they so badly need. But only time will tell, so let’s move on to the next set of improvements, the overall weapon buffs.

The Various Weapon Buffs

The Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch introduces a massive list of weapon buffs, and we’ve compiled the most significant changes on that list. There are an overwhelming number of weapons and changes for said weapons, so we’ll list them off instead of going in-depth. So, the various buffs in the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch are as follows:

  • PLAS-15 Loyalist:
    • Increased magazine capacity from 7 to 8
    • Shorter charger-up time on full charge up from 1 sec to 0.75 sec
  • P-11 Stim Pistol:
    • 100% stronger healing effect
    • increased muzzle velocity from 200 to 300
  • GL-21 Grenade Launcher:
    • Reverted to medium penetration
  • CQC-1 One True Flag:
    • Increased melee range
    • Aggros enemies and causes them to ignore other Helldivers when waving the flag
  • CQC-20 Breaching Hammer:
    • Increased damage from 2100 to 2200, which will allow you to “bonk” Behemoth Chargers on the head
  • M-1000 Maxigun:
    • Increased ammo capacity from 750 to 1000
  • LAS-98 Laser Cannon:
    • Increased beam length from 200m to 1000m
  • GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher:
    • Increased ammo from 100 to 120
  • GL-52 De-Escalator:
    • Full reload around 2 seconds faster from around 7.5 to 5.5 sec
    • One reload is around 1 sec faster, from around 3.5 to 2.5 sec
  • AC-8 Autocannon:
    • Full reload around 1 second faster from around 5.5 sec to 4.5 sec
    • Half reload around 0.5 sec faster from around 2.3 sec → 1.8 sec
  • Stats for melee weapons are now more accurate by showing damage, attack speed, and stamina drain per attack
  • Helldivers can now melee while falling or using the LIFT-850 Jump Pack

Some of these changes are minor, such as the ammo increase for the GL-28, while others are major, like the CQC-1 One True Flag. However, no matter how big the change, some of these buffs affect diehard fans of certain weapons and tactics. So these changes and their effects affect players differently.

The Vox Engine Balancing Changes

The infamous Vox Engine is getting some nerfs with the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch, which many players have requested. These changes should make fighting against Vox Engines much less frustrating and much more fun instead. The changes made to the Vox Engine in the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch are as follows:

  • Reduced spawn rate
  • Reduced upper body turn rate
  • Increased the spread of main cannon shots
  • MG turrets on the side will now die instantly when the Vox Engine dies
  • Vox Engine will now try to avoid shooting targets with its main cannons that are too close

Is That Everything In The Helldivers 2 6.1.0 Patch?

As big as the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch seems, this isn’t the entirety of the latest patch. As previously mentioned, the latest patch features content that will arrive on March 20, 2026, and various other bug fixes. As always, the various bug fixes are minor and numerous, so we won’t list them all here.

But like any other bug fix, whether you notice their effects in-game or not, they’re here to improve the game. Besides that, that is indeed everything in the Helldivers 2 6.1.0 patch, that is until March 20, 2026. And when that day comes around, you’ll know exactly where to look when the new Illuminate content comes out.
