The Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update has finally arrived, and it introduces several improvements to our favorite rogue-lite. And some of you may have noticed that this update isn’t dense with any new content additions, but there’s a reason. The reason is that Flow Fire Games, the developer, is preparing for the 1.0 release of Synthetik 2.

Flow Fire Games has added everything they wanted for the 1.0 release of the game, and now they need to polish everything. The Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update is one step to getting the game as polished as possible for 1.0. So let’s see what this update does to polish the game and prepare it for its 1.0 release.

The Improvements In The Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress Update

The Iron Fortress

The first thing in the Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update is in the name of the update, and that’s the new Iron Fortress map. This map arrives as an alternative to the Arctic Base. Iron Fortress starts you off on a beach landing area, where you’ll then work your way to fortified trenches and then end it off with the Iron Fortress itself.

Unfortunately, the Iron Fortress map is the only addition in the Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update that’s considered new content. The rest are improvements to in-game systems for polishing the gameplay experience. But that is still great for the game, so let’s delve further into this update, because who knows, some of these changes might affect you.

The Improvements

The User Experience Improvements

The first of these improvements enhances the user’s experience when playing Synthetik 2. These improvements, namely, enhance the game’s cursor with better visibility and anti-aliasing, and provide the reload indicator with more clarity. Flow Fire Games has also improved some main menu elements for better readability.

The Networking Improvements

The networking improvements in the Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update come as a saving grace for high-ping players. The first of these improvements adds a second reliability layer on top of Steam’s built-in layer. This improvement will help players to interact with essential gameplay events, such as spawning entities and weapon actions.

In addition to the second reliability layer, Flow Fire Games has also improved upon enemy movement with bad ping. With the latest update installed, you may see enemy movements becoming less choppy even on high-latency and high-packet-loss servers. This improvement should allow you to play with your international friends much more easily.

The Performance Improvements

Several, if not all, bosses have had performance improvements across the board. These bosses include the Raptor Jet, X57 Spider, Hovercraft, Last Defender, Sawblade, and Arena Masters. Flow Fire Games has also improved the performance cost for several visual effects in the game, so your computer should struggle much less.

Is That All For The Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress Update?

Unfortunately, that is all for the Synthetik 2 Iron Fortress update, but I did warn you earlier that it wasn’t dense with new content. However, it’s not all doom and gloom, because this means that 1.0 is just over the horizon. So, let us know if you’re excited about the 1.0 release of Synthetik 2, our favorite rogue-lite.

When it does come out, you’ll know exactly where to look to find out. So gear up, those machines aren’t going to scrap themselves!
