The Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update is finally arriving, and it comes bearing gifts for everybunny. These gifts include a whole new stage, along with several new bosses for our bunnies to fight. And speaking of bunnies, we’re also getting classes, though it’s unknown if they require challenge completions to unlock them.
The developer and publisher, mino_dev, first announced the Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update on May 19, 2024, via a devblog. In the devblog, they mentioned their plans to release a huge free DLC filled with the contents above. So, as we get closer to the DLC’s release, let’s talk about its contents and what everybunny will receive.
The Upcoming Contents Of The Rabbit And Steel Extra Mode Update

The Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update takes you far below the Moonlit Kingdom to uncover the heavy secrets that the surface couldn’t hold. Below the kingdom’s surface, you and your fellow rabbits will explore four new locations. The new locations in the Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update are:
- The Darkhouse Depths: A collapsed cavern filled with what seem to be rubies.
- The Eternal Bloom: An ancient underground pool known as the Subterra Sanctum, filled with hanging cages and clear blue water. Its east side grows a giant, sentient mass of thorny vines and flowers known as the Eternal Bloom. Take extra care that you don’t prick your fingers on the Eternal Bloom’s prickly barbs.
- Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information regarding the last location of the Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update. However, what we do know is that it’s now a location filled with crumbling jagged rocks and a golden luminous atmosphere.
And these locations aren’t abandoned, far from it in fact, they’re filled with all new bosses for you to fight. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the bosses of these locations, except for one of the Eternal Blood bosses. Instead of attacking herself, one of the bosses summons her budding seedlings to combat the rabbits instead.
During your journey through these forgotten ruins, you may come across some new rabbits to play as. The Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update features four new rabbits to play as, except we only know about three of them, as the fourth is a surprise from the developer. The three rabbits that we know of are:
- The Pyromancer: A complex and mobile character that can attack without any fear of slowing down.
- The Grenadier: A long-ranged fighter with a kit focused on mixing and matching various upgrade gems.
- The Hammermaid: A slow yet highly damaging rabbit that slows herself down when doing damage.
And that’s not all, these rabbits also have a full roster of upgrade gems that we don’t fully know about. Interestingly, the Grenadier rabbit is all about upgrading her abilities to mix and match them for chaotic amounts of damage. But we’ll have to wait and see what the other rabbit’s upgrades are.
Is That It For The Rabbit And Steel Extra Mode Update?

The Rabbit and Steel Extra Mode update also features a bunch of new items for your rabbits to steel themselves with. And with the Grenadier rabbit coming along, it’ll be fun to see the awesome item combos that players will inevitably create. Until the update releases, this is all we know about the upcoming update.
So enjoy Rabbit and Steel before the update and prepare yourself for the dangerous underground of the Moonlit Kingdom!
