The Darktide Bound by Duty update brings many things to the table for all varlets to enjoy. But with so many changes being brought in by the Darktide Bound by Duty update, where do you even start? Fortunately, varlets, you can put those worries to rest as we begin with the simplest addition, the new Mortis Trials arena, Theatre of Rectitude.

The New Mortis Trials Arena, Theatre of Rectitude

Delve back into the visions summoned by our beloved Psyker, Sefoni, in an all-new arena, Theatre of Rectitude. This new arena takes inspiration from the Clandestium Gloriana mission and its frozen Adeptus Mechanicus Foundryplex. And within its frozen halls come whispers from the pasts of Morrow and Zola, and maybe even Proctor-Exactant Zorin.

But to gain access to these whispers of the past, you must face Sefoni and her brand-new challenges. And with the new Emperor Favored and Goliath indulgence buffs, you should have no problem getting to those lore drops. However, a new threat appears to shake things up: the new Scab Plasma Gunner.

The New Scab Plasma Gunner

A dangerous new humanoid Elite enemy joins the ranks of the plague god’s forces. The Scab Plasma Gunner wields a powerful plasma weapon that forces players to adapt and brace for high-damage attacks. Prepare to feel the heat of the Scab Plasma Gunner in the freezing hellscapes of the Theatre of Rectitude.

But a couple of new indulgences couldn’t possibly be all you can expect to receive to fight these challenges, right? And you’d be right, for there are new tools of the trade for you to use to vanquish the forces of Nurgle. These latest tools are the Power Falchion and the new Bolt weapon marks added in with the Darktide Bound by Duty update.

The New Power Falchion

The first of these new weapons is the Power Falchion, a weapon exclusive to the Veteran class. The Power Falchion is a single-edged sword with a special action that acts in a similar way as the Zealot Relic Blade. This special action further augments its attack properties at the cost of increasing heat.

The Power Falchion’s powered mode has relatively lower damage compared to the existing Veteran Power Sword. However, this is compensated for by its much higher ease of use and mobility stats. And in comparison to the Relic Blade, the Power Falchion has a longer active time at the cost of a higher cooldown time.

The Power Falchion comes with two marks: the Aridin Mk I Power Falchion and the Lawbringer Mk IIb Power Falchion. The Aridin Mk I Power Falchion is the default Power Falchion, featuring attacks for both single and multi-target combos. The Lawbringer Mk IIb Power Falchion has slightly more advanced combos with different swing directions.

And these aren’t the only new marks coming in with the Darktide Bound by Duty update; the Bolt weapons also get some love. And that’s what we’ll talk about next.

The New Bolt Weapon Marks

With the Darktide Bound by Duty update comes two new marks for the Bolt weapons: the Locke Mk III Spearhead Boltgun and Godwyn-Branx Mk VI Bolt Pistol. These new marks of Bolt weapons pack an even larger payload, dealing increased damage and impact to the target and the area around it.

The Bolt explodes on impact, causing a high damage explosion on the target and environment, but removes any Cleave. Additionally, the explosive primes after three meters, instead of the usual five meters. However, the projectile’s direct hit properties will be reduced, especially in their damage and Finesse scaling.

The Locke Mk III Spearhead Boltgun’s hipfire mode remains full-auto, but with a reduced rate of fire compared to the default mark. This change will reduce the damage potential when mag-dumping, but it also allows for controllable recoil and spread on continuous fire. Besides the new weapons, the playable characters and game also received a few changes.

The New Changes In The Darktide Bound By Duty Update

Alongside the additions, the Darktide Bound by Duty update brings a few changes to the game itself. The first of these changes is the long-awaited new quality of life option, the Dodge Counter. Darktide lacked a proper dodge indicator for the longest time, despite it being a core game mechanic, but that changes now.

The New Dodge Counter

The Dodge Counter is a new UI element that displays dodges and their cooldowns, allowing players to dodge more effectively. Alongside the Dodge Counter, Fatshark also reworked the Stamina Bar UI to improve its readability. Both the Dodge Counter and the Stamina Bar are tunable to your individual preferences in the options.

The following change in this list is a rather major one; this change affects every class and its entire skill tree.

The Rebalanced Class Talent Tree

The Darktide Bound by Duty update improves the more dated class trees with a facelift to bring them up to speed. These changes primarily affect the Zealot, Veteran, and Physker by rebalancing their entire tree to match the new gameplay changes. Unfortunately, due to the massive changes made to these skill trees, the three classes mentioned will have their skills reset.

While I did say the more dated class trees were getting adjustments, the Ogryn had a few changes. And the Arbites, being the new class of Darktide, receive only minor changes to their skill tree. But rest assured that these changes create a more engaging and fun gameplay experience for all players.

In addition to the class rebalancing, a multitude of different weapons also received a few touchups. Unfortunately, the list would span longer than a Physker’s prayer; you can read more about it yourself here.
