The purpose of the Battlefield 6 open beta is to show the game mechanics, both new and old. These mechanics focus on the boots-on-the-ground soldier experience, though vehicles are affected by some of these mechanics. So, without further ado, the first significant game mechanic to discuss is the revised class system.

The Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes make a glorious comeback. Unfortunately, not everything from the classics made a comeback, because the beta includes open loadouts. However, to supplement that, there is now a new system called Signature Weapons that affects the classes.

Alongside the class-exclusive utilities and traits, the different classes get their own set of Signature Weapons. Signature Weapons are weapons that have special perks for the class that specializes in them. For example, the Assault class gives assault rifles faster equip/unequip speed and faster sprint recovery.

In addition to Signature Weapons, class training options have also made a comeback from Battlefield 5. The class training options act as sub-classes for the default classes, which gives each class more depth. For instance, the support class with Combat Medic emphasises healing, while Fire Support focuses on suppression and resupplying ammo.

Speaking of healing, players may now drag their downed friendlies while reviving them from a downed state. Both squadmates and medics can perform this action; of course, the medic will do the job much quicker. That is, if the medic doesn’t simply defibrillate you and revive you on the spot for more action.

Next in line for game mechanics is the return of Battlefield’s famous destruction of epic proportions. Players can now level entire buildings full of enemies or blow open walls and floors to access new angles. And with its reintroduction, players can once again cause mayhem with a simple C4 in the palm of their hands.

And last but certainly not least, the new movement system in the Battlefield 6 open beta. Players can now dive, roll, run while crouching, fire while crawling, contextually lean, and mount their weapons. Most of these new additions to the movement systems are straightforward, but there are a few unique additions.

First, rolling is an animation that plays when a player falls from a great height to negate the fall damage. Second, contextual leaning automatically leans you around or above cover when aiming down sights. And third, mounting a weapon on a flat surface or a corner can vastly improve your recoil control.
