In the final round, only three contenders are left: Gi-hun (Player 456), the cold and calculating Myung-gi (Player 333), and, who could’ve guessed, a newborn baby. The baby is the child of a former player, Jun-hee (Player 222).
In the finale, the remaining players are made to compete against each other on three towering platforms. Myung-gi is defeated, but since Gi-hun doesn’t kill him directly, it doesn’t count. Gi-hun is left with only two choices: kill the baby OR kill himself. He chooses the latter and steps off the platform to his death. In his final moments, he says to the VIPs watching, “We are not horses. We are humans. Humans are…”
The Ending and Its Symbolism for Squid Game Season 3
Gi-hun entered the final game with only one goal: destroying the morally corrupt game. In this fight to end the evil, he sacrificed himself. He chooses humanity over any more forceful compromises that he made in the past. He might’ve died, but the final decision was his to make.
The final line, “We are not horses. We are humans,” portrays the crux of the series. It directly takes inspiration from the real-life capitalist world. Throughout the show, players were referred to by their numbers, stripped of any identity. Their lives were served merely as a means of entertainment to the VIPs.
Saving the baby personifies a hope for humanity in a cruel, corrupt world. She is the only innocent figure in the entire game. But there’s a duality in this situation. While her survival is virtuous, the trauma of all the deaths and blood would also be inherited by her.
To put it, the game may have ended, but justice is still not served. The fight for dignity is unfinished. And if the current generation sacrifices enough, only then can the next escape this violent system. A single person can’t end a bad system alone, a harsh but unerring truth.

Before the ending, a scene from Los Angeles is shown. We see a woman recruiting a man by playing the same ddakji slap game from Season 1. The woman is none other than Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett. Well, who could’ve guessed? Corruption is global, and exploitation is everywhere.
Netizens are speculating about a possible American-based Squid Game. Many are theorizing that it could draw inspiration from the country’s culture and political system. Some are excited about the idea of a new game filled with new rules and players. Others are worried about it losing the original’s magic.
